If I’m Teaching My Child, Why Do I Need a Home Schooling Program?

Home schooling a child can bring families together and create an environment that will encourage a child to continue learning through college. Many parents decide on this type of schooling because they do not want to expose their children to the bad habits of other children. It is often hard to concentrate and learn in an environment where the teacher cannot control the classroom. And this is all too common. With overcrowding, poorly trained teachers, and shrinking amounts of federal funding, this problem is not likely to go away.

Home schooling programs are structured to offer a child the same curriculum a student in public school would receive. Parents are given lesson plans that they must follow. There are many organizations that can help in assisting a child in learning as much as they can in a home setting. Home schooling programs offer learning and testing materials for kids in kindergarten through high school. These home schooling programs come with instructions for parents, detailed lesson plans for the semester, diplomas for graduating students, and log books to keep track of students progress. These home schooling programs offer parents a chance to take their child’s learning seriously while monitoring their behavior and keeping them out of trouble.

The downside to home schooling programs is the lack of socialization and the lack of team building and coordination skills. This can be a great disadvantage to a child when they go to college and have to contend with not being the only student in the room. Going to school at a younger age prepares children to accept they will not always get what they want, that there are others who are also smart and athletic and funny. By accepting these truths early, the child begins to prepare himself for disappointment and failure–and will be better equipped to cope with it when it does occur. Additionally, the child will learn that the joy of good friendships and of community.
